The Town of Wabana is closely monitoring the situation with coronavirus. Eastern Health, the Provincial Department of Health and the Public Health Agency of Canada are the lead Agencies for information and public updates.

The Town’s role in this event is the protection of our staff, maintaining essential services and, if required, cancelling public programs to reduce transmission. 


In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Wabana is taking measures to proactively help prevent the spread of the virus. Following advice from public health officials, the Town will be implementing the following measures to increase social distancing to protect both the public and our employees;


The Town has increased cleaning and disinfection efforts at all Town facilities.


The Town office will remain open but will have limited access by appointment only between the hours of 11:00am until 2:00pm, please call the Town Hall to make an appointment and listen to our telephone directory to choose the appropriate person you wish to speak to.


The Town encourages residents to make payments without visiting the Town Hall and to not use cash when possible. Payments by cheque or money order can be sent by mail and by using credit card or pre-authorized payments by contacting Susan Bennett (Accounts Receivable) to make the appropriate arrangements, Monday to Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm.


All regular Council meetings are closed to the public.


The Monsignor Bartlett Memorial Arena is closed to the public effective immediately and will be closing for the remainder of the season, effective Friday, March 20, 2020.


Garbage collection will continue without change.


Council will continue to monitor the situation very carefully and will continue to make decisions that are measured, precautionary and in the community’s best interests.


We are prioritizing the health and safety of our residents and staff and thank you for understanding and encouraging residents to practice social distancing, as well as self-isolating if they have been traveling out of the county or experience symptoms associated with COVID-19.

How can you help prevent the spread of COVID-19?


The Town of Wabana asks all residents to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by practicing good hygiene habits including washing your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds; avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose; and cover your cough with the bend of your elbow or a tissue. We encourage all residents to practice social distancing at this time and avoid crowded places. If you are unwell please stay home.
